Willis Sharpe Kilmer Program

John C. Darrow, a Binghamton historian, will portray one of Binghamton’s richest, most powerful and best known citizen of the first half of the 20th century on Monday, November 12th. Kilmer’s fortune was estimated to be at $45 million at the time of his death in 1940. Swamp Root, a patent medicine business, was the main source of his wealth. He expanded his portfolio into banking, real-estate, and newspaper publishing; becoming the founder and publisher for the Binghamton Press.
Kilmer proved to be a skilled breeder and owner of many “good” horses and three “great ones”, Sun Beau, Sun Briar, and the 1918 Kentucky Derby winner, Exterminator.
On Monday November 12th, catered lunch and program is $20 and starts at 12pm. To attend the program-only admission is $5 and starts at 1pm. Lunch reservations are necessary! Contact 607-722-4873.
