Jake Stamatis

Baritone Jake Stamatis is a native of Tunkhannock, PA. He has performed a variety of roles on the operatic stage including Leporello in Don Giovanni, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart, Schaunard in La Boheme (Puccini), Ko-Ko in The Mikado (G&S), and the Bass-baritone in Hydrogen Jukebox (Glass). His recent concert engagements include solos in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Missa Brevis in F major, and Finzi’s In Terra Pax.

Jake has been a member of Tri-Cities Opera’s Resident Artist Training Program (2015-17), and has recently appeared with Opera Ithaca, Jeunesses Musicales Croatia, and The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. This summer, he will be a fellow with the Music Academy of the West, where he will sing the role of Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro ​under the baton of James Conlon, with stage direction by James Darrah. Jake received his Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance at Susquehanna University, and his Masters Degree in Opera at Binghamton University. He currently studies with Laura Brooks Rice.

Joel Harder

A versatile and accomplished musician, Canadian pianist Joel Harder is in demand as an accompanist, vocal coach, and chamber musician, and has performed in venues throughout Canada, the United States, England, and Austria. Equally at home in performance of chamber music, song and operatic repertoire, Mr. Harder has performed concerts in venues such as Alice Tully Hall, the Caramoor Centre for the Arts, Bishopsgate Hall, and the Beethovenhaus in Baden, Austria. He has worked with such renowned artists as Stéphane Lemelin, Charles Owen, Robin Bowman, J.J. Penna, Cameron Stowe, Brian Zeger, Ken Noda, Roger Vignoles, Iain Burnside, and Graham Johnson. He is an alumnus of the Banff Centre for the Arts, a recipient of the Johann Strauss Foundation Award for study at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria, and is a piano fellow alumnus of the Tanglewood Music Centre.

Mr. Harder has worked with a number of distinguished conductors on operatic repertoire, including Maestros James Conlon, Christoph von Dohnanyi and Lorin Maazel. He was featured as pianist and coach at the Cincinnati May Festival, the Castleton Festival in Virginia, Highlands Opera studio and the Chautauqua Vocal Arts Program.

Mr. Harder has received a Bachelor degree from the University of Alberta, a Masters Degree from the University of Ottawa, and a post-graduate degree in Accompaniment from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Currently, Mr. Harder is undertaking his fourth year as a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow in Collaborative Piano at the Juilliard School under full scholarship, studying with Jonathan Feldman and Margo Garret. He is currently researching and writing on the melodies of composer André Caplet.
