“The Little Foxes:” A Stage Read Rendition

June 25, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - June 27, 2021 @ 3:00 pm

$15

The Phelps Mansion Museum and the Southern Tier Actors Read (STAR) are proud to present a stage read rendition of the classic 20th century play, ‘The Little Foxes,’ by Lillian Hellman.

‘The Little Foxes’ , a classic of 20th century drama, was written by Lillian Hellman and was debuted in Broadway in 1939. A semi- autobiographical story based on the author’s own difficult childhood memories, it offers a blistering look at two Southern families in 1900.  The title is from a verse from the King James Bible; “Take us, the little foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes.” The Hubbards and the Giddens vie for the family’s voracious search for riches. No portion of greed, jealousy, corruption or betrayal is enough to fill their selfish bellies. Horace Giddens is the lone voice of truth who tries to reveal the families’ dark secrets to his young daughter, Alexandra. How he goes about it despite the actions of his estranged wife, Regina, brings an ending not to be missed.
Southern Tier Actors Read (S.T.A.R.) is celebrating its 11th year by reviving ‘The Little Foxes’, their first play, done here at The Phelps Mansion/Museum.

The reading stars a large cast of local actors including, Andrea Gregori, Judy McMahon, Mitch Tiffany, Nick DeLucia, Jim Michalec, Qiana Watson, Joe Bardales, Norman Wallace, and many others. Directed by Chris Nickerson.
