Songs For A New World

Half Light Theatre at Phelps Mansion Museum is pleased to announce their upcoming production of Songs For A New World for April 28th, 29th and 30th. The show, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, sits on the boundary between musical and song cycle. It tells the story of four characters, their hopes and dreams, their fears and failures and most importantly, their connections with each other as  they navigate marriage, family, and unrequited dreams.

The cast for Songs for a New World include HLT company members, Jenn Perkins, John Carroll, Missy Harris, and Rick Kumpon previously seen in the company’s 2016 production of Man of LaMancha as well as Tony DeLousia (SRO Productions III), Julia Adams (TCO and Summer Savoyards) and newcomer Janey Moody (Vestal Voices). Composer Jason Robert Brown has said of his show, “It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” Mostly, it’s a story of hope with a goal for a new and better world.
